When you enter Eindhoven Zoo, you step into a World of Difference. Here, you'll discover how remarkable nature truly is. Scientists estimate that there are more than 8 million species of animals and plants on Earth. Each of these species is unique, but they also work together to keep nature healthy and in balance. The variety of species in an area is known as biodiversity. The greater the biodiversity, the better an ecosystem can cope with changes.

In many parts of the world, biodiversity is under pressure. Discover why this is happening and what we can do to help reverse the trend. If you take the time to look and listen carefully to nature, you'll find that you, too, can make a positive difference.

In A World of Difference, the whole family can enjoy a large outdoor playground. Young adventurers can climb on wooden animal structures and discover the joy of On the Move on the family swing, while older children can burn off energy on the air trampoline together or alone. Parents can relax on the terrace with a drink and a bite to eat. Inspired by A Matter of Taste, the menu offers something for everyone.

Start your day at Smulrijk Restaurant. Choose from a wide range of hot and cold drinks, pastries, warm sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, mini Dutch pancakes, fries and snacks and ice cream. Take a seat inside the restaurant or relax and enjoy the sunshine on the outdoor terrace.

Discover the adventurous indoor playground

Can you climb as well as the chimpanzees? Just inside the entrance, you'll find our large indoor playground. From here, you can come face to face with the Western chimpanzees. Climb, swing, and scramble around just like they do. It's the perfect place to take a break, observe the chimpanzees, and enjoy hours of indoor fun.

Did you know...?

🍎 Blue-and-yellow macaws eat fruits, seeds, and nuts. Some seeds are swallowed whole and later passed out again. These seeds can grow into new trees wherever they land. This makes macaws important for the rainforest in which they live.

🕷️ More than 90% of a meerkat’s diet consists of insects, spiders, and centipedes. Living in groups of up to fifty individuals, meerkats consume huge numbers of insects every day. In doing so, they help keep insect populations under control naturally.

🍂 By feeding on fallen leaves and decaying fruit, African giant snails help keep nature healthy. They reduce the spread of fungi and disease by breaking down organic matter. As they feed and produce waste, they also return valuable nutrients to the soil, helping new plants to grow.
